Email Marketing Tips

Have you used email marketing but not seen the results you were promised?
Do you have any doubt in starting email marketing?

This is the right place for you! All the email marketing tips in this article will ensure that your email marketing messages appeal to a wide audience.

One way to increase your newsletter readerships is by provide special promotions or discounts in it. By doing so, the reader will be increasingly keen to open your email. Not only that, your email has a great opportunity to be forwarded to their friends. Also, you can increase customer and your email list through referrals.

Use A/B testing to test out different combinations in your subject line. Split the mailing list in half. Use a different subject line for each half of the list, while keeping the rest of the email the same. You can learn which subject wording is most influential in getting your customer base to open your messages.

Be careful before sending email to a person. Do a little research before doing so. You will be marked if by chance you send unwanted emails. The worst case is they will avoid doing business with you.

Do not send more than 1 emails a week to your subscriber base. You need to realize that you are not the only person who emails them. Probably they also subscribe to some places and they will receive a lot of emails every day. If you showering them with a few emails a week, do you know what they will do?

They probably will not read your email or even not to open them. Even worse they will delete them. Content you create wholeheartedly will end in the trash box. It was a pity.

Avoid emailing on major holidays. It is not effective. This is because people are usually out of their office and not next to their computers, so they won’t notice your emails.

This is not a hard rule and some holidays will require communications. These might include emails about Black Friday specials or other occasion-specific campaigns.

Do not forget to use your company brand in your email marketing campaign. That is why you have to create a template that can transform your newsletter in accordance with your company needs. Doing so can help your readers to recognize your company instantly.

You must be persistent with your email marketing strategy. It is essential that you have the correct clients in mind, or your work is worthless. Pushing customers who aren’t interested to read your content will never work.

Remember that many people today are utilizing mobile devices to check their email. Remember that these devices have a smaller screen and will not be able to display an entire website.

Find out how your messages look on these devices, and make any changes necessary to make them easy to read on small phone screens.

From time to time, change up the format of your emails. If you are accustomed to using HTML, then for some time try to use plain text and vice versa.

Personalize Your Emailimage credit:

Personalizing your email is not a bad idea as well. Create an emotional bond in your email with your readers. It would be preferable.

Personalize each marketing message as much as you can. Customers will have a more positive response to these types of messages as opposed to those that are impersonal and bland.

Having the messages come from a prominent figure in your company, such as a CEO or President, will make a stronger impression on your customers.

Take advantage of the call to action technique in your emails. This will allow your recipients to know what actions are expected of them once they read your email. Make your links stand out and give simple instructions for how they can be used. You can echo these parts in both the bottom and top part of your message.

This may seem like an obvious tip, but it’s important to be sure that every email address is correct on your mailing list. You will waste a lot of time tracking down the wrong email from the beginning. It is simply a waste of time.

Email marketing is a great way to market your business. Like everything else though, it only works when used in the right way. Now that you’ve read this article you know what it is you need to do to make email marketing work for your business. Simply apply the tips above to see results with email marketing.

There is no formula for the perfect email – Authentic and honest messaging works.

    Hi Nanda

    Very informative post.

The task of email marketing does not end with building a huge email list. The real test begins from there to keep in touch with email subscribers without irritating them and keep sending them value.

Every email should not be a sales pitch nor every email should be just a pack of info. People want guidance, solutions and attractive offers to meet their needs. So the objective of the email campaign should be diverse but fully focussing at providing benefits to email subscribers.

Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful post where I found lot of unique points to put into my email marketing campaign.

    Hello Nanda,

Thank you for sharing, some good tips.

Hate to say it though, from my experience, I have a different opinion on some of the tips.

I’ve found it a good idea to mail on holidays. Sure they might not be there to receive it, but they will see it soon or later. More importantly, it shows you care about the person, shows your thinking about them. Look at all the off line businesses that send christmas cards, they do it for a reason, a couple very good reasons. Why is it different with email?

Just this last christmas I sent emails to my lists, just wishing them a merry christmas and many people actually responded back saying thanks and wishing me a merry christmas. And I sure did not get any unsubs.

To me, these some important ways to build a good relationship with your subscribers. To bond with them, ect. And it is such a simple email to create.

Also, mailing less than once a week, can be bad for your list health. It’s less interaction, which can lead to a lower open rates and lower click rates. Plus the less you mail, the more likely your emails will start going in the trash/spam folders. I know, I’ve been there. I’ve seen other email marketers emails end up in the same places. Not to mention, the less you email, the easier it will be for your subscribers to forget you. Then you could get more subscribes and even get marked as spam.

Just as important, this all goes back to your relationship with your list. If you have a good relationship with your list, they should be looking forward to your emails and welcome them, even wanting more. Right?

Of course every day or more than once a day would probably be too much and burn out your list. But least a few times a week can keep your list fresh and listening to you.

And it only makes sense, that we spend all this time and effort to build a list, plus the expense of a good autoresponder service, if we are not going to mail much, are we not wasting our time and money? Why even have a list if your not going to mail?

It’s funny, we are not shy one bit about loading banners and advertisements on our blogs or website, add text links, ect, yet so many people shy away from emailing their list. What’s the difference? Really?

To me, if your subscribers are β€œbothered” by your emails (when they are within reason), either you don’t have a relationship with them, or they are not worth having on your list. No?

Sorry to go on so long.

  • Hi Nanda,

Glad that you touched this topic of Email Marketing. I think it is best practice to personalize as much as possible. There is sort of an art to it and we want to get them to open our emails.

I like to suggest to my list to “white list” me so I don’t end up in Spam, all the while giving great incentives for them to open my email.

I think I do more engagement there than on any other place. Our list is gold, and when we know the knack of how to engage with people… oh boy does it work.

I find it so exciting and creative to do this. Giving them a “freebie” leaving a bit of a cliff hanger, and only selling them 20% of the time. I’ve made quite strong connections with some of my people on my list, so much so, that it lead to phone conversations that they asked me!

Guess I’m doing something right lol.

Emails need to be talked about more on the marketing platform. I’m currently setting up my next webinar all about it because of people asking me to. This is a hot subject…

  • Hi Nanda,

Great advice. There is two things I would like to add…

    1. create an interesting subject line that your readers will feel they need to know what in the email. Ask a question, create curiosity, be controversial.

    2. keep your quality high. If your readers know that they will always gain value from reading your emails then they are more likely to open them. But if you send out to many spammy, boring, mediocre emails the readers will just unsubscribe

    Hi Nanda,

I will be honest and share that email marketing has never been my area of expertise. However, I’ve been successful by creating content that people tell me that don’t want to miss. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, lol…

So, I created my last recently and it’s exploding. I’m learning more every day about it and I’m working past my own preconceived ideas about what it is and isn’t as a tool.

Carol Amato has been very persuasive in convincing me of late. In fact, her article today on my site was a game changer for me personally.

Thank you for contributing to my learning curve!

Have a great finish to your week!

Yes, although you say that email marketing is not your area of expertise, but I know the content you create is great. I think, it is has been sufficient to get subscribers to your email list. πŸ™‚

I’m glad to hear that, Don.

  • Hey Nanda,

What i got out of this was to test, test test… split test is something that I rarely do when it comes to email marketing. But this is something I’m going to do and have been planning to do for the past month.

Also you must check your metrics. Your open rates, click through rates, and so on will give you the information needed so that you know what you need to maintain, get rid of, and improve. I myself need to check these metrics more often. At least as often as I check my blog metrics.

Thanks for the tips here Nanda and I hope you have a great weekend!

Great post on email marketing you have provided some very useful tips.

  • Hi Nanda. You make some excellent points in this article. One that is particularly controversial is the number of emails you send a week. You say once a week, but I’ve heard others say you should mail once a day.

My biggest complain with email marketing is that I purchase a product from someone, and then I get a barrage of emails from them telling me I need to buy this or that. No value to anyway but them.

I strive to send out my Home Biz CEO Magazine, which is full of links, tips, product reviews and free stuff on Wednesday. I then send occasional emails about other things, and I keep refining the process.

    Thanks for sharing this information.

    • Hi Leslie,

Welcome to my blog and thanks for the engagement πŸ™‚

Yes, there may be no standard technique in email marketing. I think, it is trial and error. And the people who told me about email marketing based on their experience, I am very glad with it. By doing so, we have a variety of techniques that can be applied. Then, we just see which one will fit with us.

I wish you the best on your email marketing.
Also, I look forward to hearing your success stories with techniques that you use today. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for adding your voice in here, Leslie.
