How To Write Great Blog Post Introductions

How to write great blog post introductions?

Have you ever thought about it?
If your answer is yes, it means you are included in one of the lucky people. Because the rise of such question in your mind shows that you are a blogger who wants to keep growing.

Indeed, one of the most important parts of your blog post is a great introduction. By having the perfect blog post introductions, the possibility of your article will be read by readers who accidentally visited your blog will be higher.

The introduction is very important because it will be read first. If you have an interesting introduction, your readers will surely read the whole post.

If it’s boring and filled with spelling and grammatical errors, unfortunately, your readers will say goodbye to your blog and look for a better source.

So, stick your readers on your blog by writing the perfect introduction. Be happy, because all you can find in this post is about blog post introductions. Also, learn how to write great blog post introductions by reading this post until the end.

Let’s get started..

1. Start With A Question

Start With A Question

It’s a great way that I did to start my blog post introductions. If you have read some of my other posts, then you will surely know what I mean.

Yes, I often start my posts with a question. Well, you can see it at the beginning of this post though.

Normally, humans have a high curiosity that makes them want to know what the answer to a question given to them, especially if that question was frequently appeared in their minds as well.

Based on that, asking a question is a great way to start your post introduction. By doing that, it means you attack the curiosity of your readers. And usually, it works well.

Your readers will not be able to resist the temptation to find out how you will answer the question and naturally they will read your post until the end.

What should be considered when making a question for post introductions?

You have to specify what information you are offering to the readers in your posts. Then, you should know what kind of questions that might be answered from your post.

Lastly, think about questions that could be draw you or your reader’s attention to read the post that you have written.

2. Start With A Statement

A statement is also another great way that you can use as an introduction to your blog post. But, to increase it’s effectiveness you must use a bold statement and arouse the curiosity of your readers.

A bold statement can attract your readers to read your posts. They read it in order to know why you use the statement and what the reason behind it.

As an example, statement like ‘Lose Your Weight Fast!’ definitely can affect your readers for sure.

Your readers would be interested to read an article with such statements. They definitely really want to know how to lose weight quickly, since being overweight is a problem for many people.

3. Start With An Awesome Quote

Inspirational Quotes

Start your post with a quote is also another great way in doing blog post introductions. There are so many great people leave a trail of knowledge they gained during their life in the form of quotes that inspires for many people.

An inspirational quote can be a trigger for someone of doing something they have never done before. Perhaps, it’s because they are afraid or something like that.

And inspirational quotes can make them more courageous in doing great things!

That’s why people love inspirational quotes. Quotes can also give emphasis on the intent of an article as well.

Making the quotes as part of your introduction can make your readers better understand the essence of your article.

Easy reading is damn hard writing.

~Nathaniel Hawthorne

The important thing is you should be able to choose a quote that relates to the topic of your article. If you write about how to write good blog posts, then your quote should have relevance to writing. It’s useless if you are quoting about diet, when talking about writing.

So, be wise in picking the appropriate quote!

4. Start With A Fact

Who doesn’t like facts? Everyone loves facts, especially facts relating to themselves. But of course, it’s the facts that can be verified.

Typically, the internet is used by people as a place to find information they need. If you expose a fact in the introduction of your posts, it’s like you put sugars among a bunch of ants. Yes, they will get together to enjoy “your sugars.”

As an example, ‘Over 92% of people earn a lot of money from the internet with this method!

For people who are interested in getting more money from the Internet, this fact could be a magnet for them to remain reading your post.

They definitely want to know what method is and whether they can apply this method or not.

But don’t forget that every fact is supported by appropriate evidence. It’s very important and you can put it in your post though.

Facts sometimes have a strange and bizarre power that makes their inherent truth seem unbelievable.

5. Be Funny

Be Funny

Another great way is to try to be funny in your blog post introductions. This way might be tricky and highly dependent on your writing style. But, if you get it right, it can really attract many readers for sure!

Most of the information found in the blogosphere is filled with very serious information. If you make a post with the same style as well, your posts will be swallowed up by the crowd.

By making it a bit light-hearted and funny, your content will be more stand out among the crowd. Well, your readers definitely want be entertained and informed at the same time though.

I know someone who uses this way in his post. That’s Emmanuel Kabenlah Cudjoe from Kabenlah. I think you also know him.

He uses a character named Little Johnny to make the atmosphere in his article melted, and I enjoyed it as well.

One thing you have to remember, if being funny is not your style, then you don’t need to force yourself to be like that.

Each person is unique, and you definitely have your own style that can be proud of to the world! 😉

We are best friends! Always remember that if you fall, I will pick you up.

After I finish laughing!

6. Start With A Story

Psychologically, people like stories that relate to their own life story. You can take advantage of this fact by using the stories as part of your post introductions.

It doesn’t matter whether the stories are real or fiction, your reader’s attention certainly can be obtained by itself.

As an example, “I’d been thinking about starting my own online business for a while now. That’s when I decided to start my own blog…

If the people who saw this opening could feel a connection with his/her own story, then they will read your post until the end.

Your post introductions lead to the rest of the content. If people don’t enjoy your intro, they probably won’t read the whole post, no matter how great it is!

There are so many things that can attract the attention of your readers, and they don’t have the obligation to visit your blog as well. So, you should be able to get their attention just by reading your blog post introductions!

However, you should remember that the post introductions only one part of your full post. A post will only be recognized as a great post if the content is great as well.

So, it means nothing if you can make a perfect introduction, but your post is rubbish. Certainly, you will lose your readers as well!

Good topic! Honestly, introduction is one part of blogging that’s easier said than done to start. It is the most read section of any deliverable, and it largely determines the attitude of the reader/reviewer will have toward the work.

The first number that shares about ‘Start with a Statement” is my favorite.

On my part, a good introduction has a good recipe, Background, The Problem and The Proposed Solution.

Lastly, “Start with an Awesome Quote” is a good attention grabber for readers. Reader loves reading quotes and anyone should try this when writing a post.

Nice article, it is well written and insightful!

  • Hi Nanda,

Fantastic ideas to apply in this post! Each point you make does make a reader curious. It is a difficult task, but one that has relevance to get readers to stay with us on our blog.

Funny phrases I had made up caught on. To me it was a surprise when my readers commented on it. It was just something cleaver off the top of my head. I find that when I do something like that I get a better readership in my post.

When I wrote why google is like my ex, I got a lot of fun comments out of that title. The intro was all from my heart. It was just a way I have seen Google from my own perspective. My oh my did it go wild lol.

I think the more original one can be with titles and introductions will capture a good readership. Stories also work well, as long as you make it entertaining for the reader. Also analogies. These a great tips and we all have to keep them in mind.
